Prof. Deplanque is new General Secretary of the IUPAC

The CEO of FIZ CHEMIE, Professor Dr. René Deplanque, was elected the new General Secretary at the 46th General Meeting of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry ( IUPAC), which was founded in 1919 and whose members include 1,623 institutions around the world involved in the chemical industry and chemical research. Deplanque is planning to further stimulate international professional communication and IT in chemistry based on the IUPAC network and its globally-respected standardization activities. With the election of Deplanque to General Secretary, the IUPAC is communicating the hope of making FIZ CHEMIE the centre of global communication and marketing activities beyond its previous contributions in hosting the global IUPAC server. The IUPAC is an organisation that compiles universally-valid nomenclature guidelines for chemical compounds and publishes them as recommendations. These recommendations focus on the naming of organic compounds. More information here.
