About 90 million documents and seven terabytes of data volume are handled by the Internet full-text databases of FIZ CHEMIE. New data is added every day. Making the immense resources of worldwide distributed knowledge and information available in a usable form requires high-performance infrastructures with the latest technologies.
FIZ CHEMIE has systems for the design and operation of information and knowledge platforms which optimally meet these requirements. These systems link the information provided on the Internet with our own information sources and external technical databases to create an integrated information platform. They are equally suited for scientific users as well as those in small and medium-sized enterprises and large industrial companies.
The key component of the Internet full-text databases is a search engine technology in which we have combined information science methodologies and professional online retrieval technology with web technology. The combination of search robots and editorial support ensure that only reviewed, scientific web pages are provided.
If desired, differentiated web searches can be combined with proprietary sources to form an integrated information platform. We currently operate more than 20 such Internet full-text databases. FIZ CHEMIE supports the continued development of content and technology and optimizes the provision of information using convenient user interfaces.
